San Antonio Mother Daughter Trip

Traveled: 2014

San Antonio is a great weekend trip. My mom and I went on a whim to check it out because we wanted to escape the rain and cold.

IMG_0301 IMG_0363 This city is great! The Alamo itself is pretty interesting and it was nice to get the full history behind the name. The building is beautiful and the surrounding landscape it lovely. I have always been fond of dessert gardens and this place was perfect.
The real gem, however, is the man-made canal running through downtown.

Lunch on the Canal Because it is man-made and cleaned annually (there is mud run when it happens, if your into that kind of thing), it isn’t smelly but it is beautiful! The banks are lined with shops and eateries. We decided to be true tourists and take the canal tour via boat. The tour guide was informational and more importantly entertaining.

We also got out of the city to see a local rodeo. This did require a rental car, so we got one for the whole trip ($15/day). The rodeo was your average fair (rides, games, livestock) along with all the rodeo competitions. I don’t know much about these things as this was my first one but my mom grew up attending and helping at these so she explained. It was fun to see the “real” cowboys and cowgirls doing their thing.
